Tara Whitmire, DNP, APRN-NP, CHFN
Tara is a nurse practitioner who works in the area of cardiothoracic surgery. She cares for patients before and after heart and lung surgery. She previously worked in the area of general cardiology and has many years of experience caring for heart failure patients. She is also an educator and is the director of a graduate nursing program at a private health care sciences college in Omaha, Nebraska. Tara has volunteered with the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses for many years. She has served as the chair of the Membership and Area Representative Committees. She is currently serving on the Annual Meeting Committee and is the chair of the Together in Heart Failure website committee.
Dana Mitchell, DNP, RN, ACNP-BC, CHFN
Dana Mitchell has been a nurse since 2001 and a nurse practitioner since 2005, specializing adult acute care with expertise in advanced heart failure and heart transplant. Dana holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama, and a master’s and doctorate of nursing practice, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also holds a heart failure nursing certification, and has extensive experience in managing chronically ill patients in both in and out of the hospital. Dana is a member of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, and the current chairperson for the organization’s Patient Education committee. Dana is currently working as an Instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing.
Claire Anderson, APRN, FNP, CHFN
Claire is a nurse practitioner who works in a community heart failure clinic. Her focus is on minimizing the gaps after discharge and medication management. In addition, she is a Director if Clinical Services and Advanced Practice Providers for Rush Copley Medical Group in Aurora, Illinois. Claire has volunteered with the American Association of Heart Failure Association as the Great Lakes Area Representative for the past four years and looks forward to sharing her heart failure knowledge. She is pursuing her DNP at Rush University in Transformational Leadership and has a special talent for gardening.
Robert S. Davis, MBA, MSN, RN-BC, NE-BC, NHDP-BC, EMT-B
Robert is the Director of Nursing who oversees the areas of Medical, Surgical and Telemetry, which includes patients with Heart Failure. Prior to that, he was the Nurse Manager in which he oversaw the Heart Failure Program at his local hospital, becoming one of two hospitals certified in Heart Failure by the Joint Commission. He is also an adjunct professor at one of the local Universities in New York. Robert has volunteered for the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses for about four years, as well as other nursing organizations. In his free time, Robert also volunteers as fire fighter and EMT in his town.
Jayne Mitchell, ANP-BC, CHFN
Jayne is a Nurse Practitioner who has been working with heart failure patients for over 35 years. Jayne works at Oregon Health & Science University with the Heart Failure Program. Jayne's focus is transitional care and she works with many community partners in order to optimize heart failure care for patients and their families. She works in the hospital, clinic and also performs home visits. She has volunteered with AAHFN for many years. In her free time, she is an avid tennis player and mom.
